2.1

Intended use

The dock leveller is used exclusively for loading and
unloading vehicles. The dock leveller bridges differ-
ences in height (maximum permissible angle of inclin-
ation according to EN  1398: 12.5  %, i.e. approx.  7°)
as well as distances between the loading area of the
vehicle and the loading ramp. Always observe the
maximum angle of inclination suitable for the respect-
ive means of transport used (forklift trucks) when
loading and unloading.
2.2

Foreseeable misuse

Any use other than described in chapter Intended use
is regarded as reasonably foreseeable misuse. This
includes but is not limited to:
a load on the dock leveller that is higher than the
nominal load indicated on the rating plate of the
dock leveller
driving on the dock leveller with vehicles whose
track width is larger than the nominal width of the
dock leveller minus 700 mm
any kind of lifting or lowering of loads
passenger transportation
exceeding the permissible traversing speed (see
technical data)
placing the dock leveller on the truck tail lift rather
than on the loading area
driving the truck away before the dock leveller is
brought into its resting position
Any damage or injury as a result of reasonably fore-
seeable misuse and / or of not following the assembly
and operating instructions will render the manufac-
turer's liability null and void.
2.3

Personnel qualifications

The following persons are authorized to carry out the
installation and maintenance:
Skilled workers with relevant training, e.g.
industrial mechanic
A skilled worker is a person who, due to his/her pro-
fessional training, his knowledge and experience as
well as due to his/her knowledge of the relevant regu-
lations, is able to judge the work assigned to him/her
as well as to identify possible hazards.
These assembly, operation and maintenance instructions must be kept for the entire period of use!
The following persons are authorised to handle the
product:
Operating personnel
The operator must have read and understood the in-
structions, in particular the "Safety" chapter and must
be aware of the hazards associated with handling the
product and the controlled dock leveller.
The operator must have been instructed with regard
to handling the controlled dock leveller.
The following persons are authorised to carry out as-
sessments and installations of dock levellers:
Qualified person according to EN 1398:2009
Person who, by way of training and experience, has
sufficient knowledge in the field of dock levellers and
who is sufficiently familiar with relevant rules and reg-
ulations to be able to assess the safe condition of
dock levellers.
2.4
Potential hazards associated with the
product
The product's design and construction correspond to
the current state-of-the-art. The product is safe to op-
erate when used as intended. Nevertheless, residual
risks remain.

eller.
The dock leveller must be visible
from the place of operation.
Risk of injury due to release of
WARNING
pressure from the gas spring!
Disassemble or assemble the gas
spring only when there is no pres-
sure on it.
Do not open the gas spring! Do not
perform any manipulations on the
gas spring! Always use it as a com-
plete component.
Never expose the gas spring to high
temperatures.
