Running cables
3.
The DPS antenna is supplied complete with pre-installed
cables (8-pin, conductor, length 10 meters (32ft)). If the
standard cable is not long enough, there is an extension
cable accessory available for order. The Gateway connec-
tor (Deutsch 6-pole) is included in the kit, uninstalled.
IMPORTANT! Never cut or modify the cable.
- If possible, do not run the cable next to or parallel with
florescent lighting, engines or radio transmission equip-
ment as these may cause interference.
-
Use suitable fasteners, deck bushings, cable ties and
sealant to secure the cable along the cable run and th-
rough any bulkheads or decks.

4.
When a suitable place for installation has been decided,
cut out the hole template and tape it in the desired po-
sition. A full size template is located in the back of this
installation instruction, (see page 108).
IMPORTANT! Make sure the hole markings are in the
fore-and-aft direction. The arrow on the template must
point towards the bow.
5.
Mark out and make holes for the DPS antenna.
NOTE! Use a hole cutter.

7.
Push the cable though the cable bushing union nut (A)
and rubber sleeve (B).
NOTE! The rubber sleeve (B) is tapered externally and fits
into a similarly tapered hole in the union (C). Slide the rub-
ber sleeve over the cable with the tapered end facing away
from the union nut. If necessary, apply a little soapy water
to the inside of the rubber sleeve for easier cable running.
8.
Pull the cable through the union (C). Alternately push and
pull the cable through carefully from above and below.
Make sure the DPS antenna is lashed fast or similarly se-
cured during this stage.
NOTE! The cable should be as straight as possible to fa-
cilitate drawing through. Let somebody receive the cable
and take charge of drawing it through from below.
NOTE! Clamp the cable carefully to avoid problems with
loosely hanging cable.
