PS IRM C J movement that was developed explicitly
for this watch. With a power reserve of at least
192 hours or eight days, this rectangular timepiece
enriches Patek Philippe's collection of manually
wound watches that are highly popular among
connoisseurs.
The movement unites venerable horological tradi-
tions with fascinating innovations that raise the
bar with respect to efficiency, dependability, and
precision. This is due to the Spiromax balance
®
spring and the Pulsomax escapement (the spring,
®
lever, and escape wheel are made of Silinvar ,
®
a derivative of silicon) that are virtually friction-
free, manufactured to extremely tight tolerances,
much lighter than steel, and unaffected by mag-
netic fields. The energy saved by these components
is available for an extended power reserve and
higher rate accuracy. It is also used to instantane-
ously switch the date by hand and aperture day;
at midnight, both indications advance to the next
day in the blink of an eye. This brief daily spectacle
takes place in the subsidiary dial at 6 o'clock, while
the power-reserve indicator at 12 o'clock gradually
moves toward day 9 in signal red, reminding the
owner to wind the exclusive movement.
