To adjust the drive chain slack
1. Loosen the wheel pin nut and lock nut
on each side of the swingarm.
2. To tension the transmission chain, turn
the tension adjustment bolt on each side
of the swingarm (clockwise).
3. To loosen the transmission chain, turn
the tension adjustment bolt on each side
of the swingarm (anticlockwise) and push
the rear wheel forwards.

NOTICE
Incorrect transmission chain tension
will overload the engine and other vital
parts of the motorcycle, and it may cau-
se the chain to slip or break. To stop this
from happening, keep the transmission
chain tension within the speciied limits.
Make sure that the distance is the same
for the left and right sides of the swin-
garm.
4. Tighten the wheel pin nut and lock nuts.
Tightening torques:
Axle nut:

Periodic maintenance and adjustment
Cleaning and lubricating the drive
chain
The drive chain must be cleaned and lu-
bricated at the intervals speci ed in the
periodic maintenance and lubrication
chart, otherwise it will quickly wear out,
especially when riding in dusty or wet are-
as. Service the drive chain as follows.
NOTICE
The drive chain must be lubricated
after washing the motorcycle, riding in
the rain or riding in wet areas.
1. Clean the drive chain with kerosene and
a small soft brush.
NOTICE
To prevent damaging the O-rings, do
not clean the drive chain with steam
cleaners, high-pressure washers or
inappropriate solvents.
