Before use
Before using your dishwasher, please follow the steps below, which are explained in more detail later in
this instruction manual:
1. Set the water softener.
2. Load the special dishwasher salt into the water softener.
3. Load the baskets and trays with the crockery, glasses and cutlery to be cleaned.
4. Fill the detergent and rinse aid dispensers with special products for machine dishwashers.
Loading salt into the water softener
Note: If your model does not have a water softener, you can skip this section. Always use salt for your
specific use in the dishwasher. The salt container is located under the lower basket and should be filled
as explained below:
WARNING! Use only salt specifically created for dishwasher use. Any other type of salt not
specifically intended for dishwasher use, especially table salt, will damage the descaler. In
case of damage caused by improper use of salt, the manufacturer does not give any warranty
and is not liable for damage caused by the use of unsuitable salt.
WARNING! Refill with salt only before running a cycle or in case the salt indicator requires it.
This will prevent salt grains or spilled salt water from remaining in the bottom of the machine
for a period of time which could cause corrosion.
Follow the steps below to add salt to the dishwasher:
1. Remove the lower basket and unscrew the reservoir lid.
2. Place the end of the funnel (supplied) into the hole and pour in approximately 1.5 kg of dishwasher salt.
3. Fill the salt tank with water up to its maximum limit. It is normal for a small amount of water to come
out of the salt container.
4. After filling the container, screw the lid back on.
5. The salt indicator light will go out once the salt container has been filled with salt.
6. Immediately after filling the salt into the salt container, a washing programme should be started (it is
advisable to use a short programme). Otherwise, the filter system, pump or other important parts of the
dishwasher may be damaged by salt water. This is out of warranty.
Note: The salt container should only be refilled when the salt warning indicator on the control panel lights
up.
Depending on the degree of salt dissolution, this indicator may remain lit even if the container is full. If
there is no indicator light on the control panel (on some models), you can estimate when the softener
should be filled with salt by the cycles the dishwasher has run. If salt has spilled, run a prewash or quick
programme to remove it.
