7.4. Battery Charger Operation
Inspect the charger for signs of damage before use. Connect the charger to a power
source and install batteries into the battery bays, noting proper orientation.
When batteries are first installed into the charger, the charger performs a battery health
check causing the battery indicator bars to illuminate in sequence from bottom to top.
When the test is complete, the charger will enter charging mode. If any unusual
characteristics are detected during the test, such as a battery installed backwards, the
battery indicator bars will rapidly flash, and the screen will display and "Err" message.
Users should remove the battery and install again. If the "Err" message persists, the
battery should be disposed.
While in charging mode, the Battery Indicator Bars will blink. Once a battery is fully
charged, all Battery Indicator Bars will be fully illuminated. The charger will show battery
and charging information of the currently selected battery slot. Users can cycle through
this information by pressing the MODE button. To show information on another slots,
press the SLOT button. To turn the LCD backlight off, press, and hold the SLOT button.
NOTE: Holding the MODE button will cycle the charger charge setting between
LiFePO4 or Li-ion chemistry cells. Always have the charger chemistry setting to "Li-ion"
when charging the batteries provided with the camera system.
