1. INTRODUCTION
In order to guarantee personal protection and avoid any material damage, it is essential to follow
the instructions given in this manual and all other documents supplied with the machine,
especially the manual entitled "Safety regulations".
1.1.
Specification plate
To facilitate future spare parts ordering and for your own information about vacuum pump, you are advised to
copy the details from the vacuum pump identification plate onto this page when you take delivery of your
machine.

Use
The equipment must be used for the purpose for which it is designed: vacuum pumps are to be used for
pumping non-aggressive gases containing no more than 22% oxygen. These gases must not be toxic or explosive.

2. INSTALLATION
2.1.
Handling and storage
The weight of the vacuum pump is given in the characteristics board.
If a long period of time (1 year) elapses between delivery and commissioning, store your unit in suitable
conditions (dry, dust-free room where it will not be subject to vibrations.)
If this storage time exceeds four years, re-lubricate or replace the ball bearings.
In unfavorable conditions, this period will be shorter.

2.2.
Choice of location and temperature
The ambient temperature must be between +5°C and +40°C.
Consult us for temperatures outside this range.
Your vacuum pump must be installed in a well ventilated, dust free room.
The permissible maximum ambient and gas temperatures at the inlet are 40°C.
Provide low-level (fresh air) and high-level (hot air outlet) ventilation in the premises.
Do not interrupt cooling. The machine ventilation grids and openings must remain free and be at least 150 mm
away from any walls. Do not pump hot air over the machine.
2.3.
Connections to vacuum network
A flexible hose which can be installed on the intake flange is available as an option.
This makes easier connection to the vacuum inlet and prevents mini-vibrations from reverberating in the
vacuum piping.
The connections are on female 1/4".
If you don't wish to discharge the gases into the room where the pump(s) is (are) installed, an exhaust line has
to be fitted to the exhaust orifice without reducing the diameter as it could reduce pumping speed and might
overload the motor.
If several pumps are connected to the same exhaust line, the area of the cross-section must be equal to the
sum of the cross sectional areas of the exhaust orifices for all the pumps.
Install a drain valve at the lowest point of the exhaust line to prevent any condensates from draining back into
the pump(s).

Electrical connection
7
The machine must be disconnected from the mains supply wherever maintenance work is
9
carried out. The electrical connection must be performed by a qualified electrician.
9
Warning : the direction of rotation.
11.5
Power supply must be removed prior to any intervention on the station.
9
Connection to the power supply must be carried out by the exploiting.
9
11.5
The mains voltage and frequency must be the same as those indicated on the name plate.
The motor has one cable outlet. Connect the two conductors to the single-phase electric network and connect
the earth wire to the earth terminal.
All motors must be protected by a magneto-thermal circuit-breaker or a thermo-relay.
The circuit-breaker must be set according to the amperage shown on the identification plate of
the electric motor.
