Winter Operation

At temperatures below about +50 °F
:
Remove screw (1).
:
Pull out the shutter (2), turn it over
so the window is facing down and
then push it back into position.
:
Refit the screw (1).
The shutter is now in the winter position.
Heated air is now drawn in from around
the cylinder and mixed with cold air to
help prevent air filter and carburetor
icing.
At temperatures above about
+50 °F.
Return the shutter to the summer
position (as shown in illustration) to
avoid engine running problems that
may be caused by overheating!

The four positions of the
Master Control lever
$ = Engine off –
ignition is switched off.
# = Normal run position –
engine runs or can fire.
To move the Master Control lever from #

, press down the throttle
trigger interlock and squeeze throttle
trigger at the same time.

=Warm start – this position is used to
start a warm engine. The Master
Control lever moves to the normal
run position as soon as the throttle
trigger is squeezed.

=Cold start – this position is used to
start a cold engine.

Push hand guard (1) forward:
The chain is now locked.

Press throttle trigger interlock (2)
and set Master Control lever to:
for cold start l
for warm start n
(even if engine has been running
but is still cold).
