You can purchase retaining brackets from our sales department or
through our online catalog using the order number R412018339.
Assemble the valve system on a level surface using at least four screws (2).
u
Note the dimensions of the valve system.
Figure 15 shows the following assembly examples:
• Valve system AV with D-Sub connection at top (A)
• Valve system AV with bus coupler and I/O modules (B)
• Valve system AV, DIN rail mounting (C)
Figure 16 shows the following assembly example:
• Valve system AV with bus coupler and I/O modules (D)
Select a type of fastening that corresponds to the load (vibrating,
shock or oscillating load)!
Ensure that enough free space is left for the electrical and pneumatic
connections so that the permissible minimum bending radii for the ca-
bles and tubing are adhered to.

6.1.2 Series AV

Assembling the valve system on the DIN rail
See fig. 15–C
Note the assembly instructions for DIN rail R412019467.
The AV-BP series cannot be mounted on a DIN rail.
Exceeding the maximum number of modules for hat rail mounting!
The valve system must not be equipped with more than the maximum number
of components to prevent damage caused by oscillations and vibrations during
operation.
After maximum equipment of the valve system, we recommend no longer
u
assembling the valve system on a DIN rail (see table "Maximum valve sys-
tem equipment").
Maximum valve system equipment for series AV with DIN rail mounting
Valve system
Valve system with multipole
Valve system with bus coupler without I/O 14 valves or 3 AV-EP + 2 valves
Valve system with bus coupler with 1x I/O
Valve system with bus coupler with 2x I/O
Valve system stand-alone AES

6.1.3 AV-BP Series

Configuration limits
Loss of IP protection class!
The AV base plate system is not compatible with AV-BP.
Only use AV and AV-BP series base plates in separate systems.
u
Loss of function due to open channels!
The top and bottom connections on the AV-BP supply plates are connected in-
ternally.
Make sure the top and bottom connections on the supply plates are con-
u
nected, and that unused connections are sealed.
• Maximum number of valves: 32
• Maximum number of supply plates (central): 8
• Maximum number of valves between supply plates for mounting to transition
plates or direct mounting on the control cabinet wall: 8
CAUTION:
Observe the following assembly instructions when using UL-certified systems in
control cabinets:

NOTICE
NOTICE
Installation without transition plate:
When installing an AV0x-BP valve system without transition plate in the outer
wall of a control cabinet, only class 2 voltages are permissible in the control cabi-
net to ensure fire protection in accordance with UL61010.
Installation with transition plate:
When installing an AV0x-BP valve system with transition plate in the outer wall of
a control cabinet, ensure fire protection in accordance with UL61010.
When installing in the cabinet base, all openings to the interior must be closed
off. This can be done by closing off unused connections with blanking screws
(e. g. FPT series). Any connections that are used have to be provided with metal
elbow fittings (e. g. QR2 series).
These measures are not necessary if only class 2 voltages are used in the control
cabinet or if the installation does not take place in the base of the control cabinet.
When installing on the side walls, a deviation of up to 30° from the vertical is per-
missible.
Sealing for assembly with transition plate
See fig. 17
When using transition plates (pneumatic multipole) you must place O-rings in
the recesses on the bottom of all connections. The correct sealing kits are in-
cluded with the transition plates or can be found in our online catalog at http://
www.aventics.com/pneumatics-catalog .
1. Ensure that the O-rings do not fall out when mounting on the transition plate!
2. Use the enclosed seal or seal tape as a sealing between the transition plate
and control cabinet.
The protection class between the transition plate and control cabinet depends on
the property of the control cabinet and should be individually checked as re-
quired. Typically complies with protection class IP65.
Sealing for assembly without transition plate
See fig. 18
AV-BP can be mounted directly on the switch cabinet wall. The pneumatic push-
in fittings are screwed into the connection thread provided. The valve system can
be sealed against the mounting plate in two ways:
• Small opening (top figure)
• Large opening (bottom figure)
Stick the sealing tape onto the places provided in accordance with the figure
u
and make sure that the sealing tape is placed over the protruding sealing
points.
The protection class between the valve system and control cabinet depends on
the property of the control cabinet and should be individually checked as re-
quired. Typically complies with protection class IP54.

6.2 Connecting pneumatics

Overpressure caused by closed exhaust outputs!
Closed exhaust outlets will lead to air congestion and valve damage.
1. Never close connection R.
2. Ensure that channels 3, 5, and R provide sufficient exhaust.

6.2.1 General information

1. Fit exhaust air connections that are not connected to an exhaust air line with a
silencer as needed.
2. Provide unused connections with blanking plugs.
3. Ensure that enough free space is left for the pneumatic tubing so that the per-
mitted minimum bending radii are adhered to.
4. Note that the use of PUR tubing limits the holding force of the tubing in the
push-in connectors.
5. For push-in fittings, only use polymer plug accessories from the pneumatics
catalog. Only use compressed air tubing from the TU 1-F series with stiffener
sleeves.
6. Fix the pneumatic tubing for compressed air supply near the connection to
ensure it does not bend. Rule of thumb: the first 5 cm before the inlet must be
straight.
7. When using plug connectors, also note the information from ISO stan-
dard 14743 Pneumatic fluid power – Push-in connectors for thermoplastic
tubes.
