6.2.3 AV-BP Series

Thread connections of the AV-BP series are suitable for standard push-in fittings.
Note the maximum external diameter when selecting the push-in fittings (see
u
following tables).

6.2.4 Connecting the supply lines

Connect the supply lines to connections 1, 3, and 5 on the supply plates or the
u
exhaust modules.
Connect the compressed air to multiple supply plates for larger ex-
haust and supply air requirements. Use multiple exhaust modules to
ensure an adequate exhaust.

6.2.5 Connecting the external pilot control air (optional)

Connect the external pilot control air at connection X.
u
On the AV03, connection X is located on the left supply plate; on the
AV05, the connection is located on the right end plate!

6.2.6 Connecting the pilot exhaust air (optional)

For the AV series
Connect the pilot exhaust air at connection R on the right end plate.
u
For the AV-BP series
Make sure that connection R is always open. Connect a silencer or discharge
u
the exhaust via tubing.

6.2.7 AV05: Setting the operating mode on the valve system

See Fig. 14
No subsequent changes are possible for the AV03 and AV05 series
with a fixed pilot air configuration and for the AV-BP series. The pilot
AV05
air is channeled from left to right.
Ø 12 mm
The following change can only be carried out for the AV05 series with
variable pilot air configuration.
Ø 12 mm
The pilot air cover in the AV05 end plate makes it possible to switch the valve sys-
tem operating mode between internal pilot control (connection 1) and external
pilot control (connection X).
Ø 6 mm
1. Loosen both pilot air cover mounting screws (1).
Ø 6 mm,
Ø 8 mm
2. Lift the pilot air cover (1).
Ø 6 mm,
3. Turn the pilot air cover by 180° and reinsert it (2).
Ø 8 mm
4. Make sure that the seals have been inserted correctly.
Ø 12 mm
5. Retighten the pilot air cover (3).
Ø 6 mm
The new operating mode is now set.

Damage to the individual components or reduction in service life!
If you use pressure regulators in combination with switching valves in a valve
system, you must observe the following to avoid damaging the individual com-
ponents:
Do not exceed the maximum operating pressure of 8 bar in AV valve systems
with an internal pilot air supply for the switching valves. Do not exceed the
maximum operating pressure of 10 bar with an external pilot air supply. Do not
exceed the maximum operating pressure of 8 bar with a UL/CSA application.
If you still want to operate the pressure regulator at the maximum operating
pressure of 11 bar, you must note the following:
1. The pilot air supply for the switching valves must be external.
2. Position the supply plate that blocks supply air channel 1 directly in front of
the pressure regulator.
3. For individual pressure regulators, position an additional supply plate be-
tween the pressure regulator and the downstream switching valves to
block supply air channel 1.
4. If using several individual pressure regulators in a row, one supply plate po-
sitioned upstream of the adjacent switching valves is enough.

6.3 Connecting the electrical system

Electric shock due to incorrect power pack! Danger of injury!
1. The units are permitted to be supplied by the following voltages only:
24 V DC SELV or PELV circuits, whereby each of the DC supply circuits must
be provided with a DC-rated fuse which is capable of opening at a current of
6.67 A in 120 s or less, or
24 V DC circuits which fulfill the requirements of a limited-energy circuit ac-
cording to clause 9.4 of standard UL 61010-1, 3rd edition, or
24 V DC circuits which fulfill the requirements of limited power sources ac-
cording to clause 2.5 of standard UL 60950-1, 2nd edition, or
24 V DC circuits which fulfill the requirements of NEC Class II according to
standard UL 1310.
2. Make sure that the power supply of the power pack is always less than
300 V AC (outer cable – neutral wire).
The length of the cable (signal line) must not exceed 30 m.

6.3.1 Connection with Sub-D

Ensure that enough free space is left for the electrical connections so
that the permissible minimum bending radii are adhered to. Make sure
that there is adequate space for the plugs used.
1. Finish off the preassembled cable with a D-sub mating plug and connect it to
the electrical control system.
Tip: Preassembled cables with suitable D-Sub mating plugs can be found in
our online catalog at http://www.aventics.com/pneumatics-catalog.
2. Insert the D-Sub mating plug into the D-Sub connection and screw it down.
