III. NOTICE - READ BEFORE USE
N. Transit Use (Continued)
Before using the mobility base in a vehicle for transporting persons with reduced mobility, the
seating unit must be adjusted so the child faces forward in the direction of travel and the seat
angle is horizontal and secured. To activate the locking mechanism:
1. Turn the top knob to the right and adjust the seat bottom so it is horizontal (adjusting the seat
angle).
2. Pull out the locking pin, rotate it to the left and reinsert (Fig. 1). The locking pin is now
engaged (Fig. 2).
3. Tilt the seat adapter (Fig. 2:A) against the locking pin (Fig. 2:B). The seat adapter must
contact the locking pin without play.
After use in a vehicle for transporting persons with reduced mobility, the seat angle adjustment
must be enabled again. To deactivate the locking mechanism:
1. Pull out the locking pin and secure it in the disengaged position by rotating it (Fig. 3).
2. The locking pin is disengaged (Fig. 4:A). The seat angle can now once again be adjusted by
turning the top rotary knob.
When using the mobility base as a seat in a motor vehicle you should always observe the
following instructions:
The rider must be in forward-facing position.
The rider and all items carried must not weigh more than 74 lbs (33.4 kg).
Backpacks and pouches should be removed and secured separately in the motor vehicle.
In the event of an accident these items can become dangerous projectiles, which may
injure or kill you or other occupants of the motor vehicle.
The rider must use a Wheelchair Tie-down and Occupant Restraint System that complies
with RESNA WC-4, Section 18: Wheelchair tie-down and occupant restraint systems for
use in motor vehicles or ISO 10542-1 Technical systems and aids for disabled or
handicapped persons -- Wheelchair tie-down and occupant-restraint systems -- Part 1:
