• Plastic clips on the roof lining near the boot lid,
• Driver-side storage compartment and knee airbag (on left-hand drive vehicles),
• Passenger-side storage compartment (on right-hand drive vehicles),
• Heated AdBlue reducing agent tank (depending on the equipment specification).
Loosen and, if required, remove the fuse holder and the BCM (body control module) control
unit.
Caution: After removing the bumper reinforcement bar, apply a corrosion
protection agent to the area where the bumper reinforce-ment bar and body
panels touch. The areas with galvanised sheet metal where a corrosion protection
agent has not been applied must be treated with two coats (at least 25 microns)
of corrosion protection filler spray (SprayMax 1K Acrylic Filler). Once the filler has
been left to dry at a temperature of approximately 20 °C for 20 minutes, apply the
Multi-Wax wax preservative spray (Henkel). After the bodywork has been treated
with the corrosion protection agent, reinsert the bolts that you removed from the
bar (fig. 25).

Making the opening in the rear bumper for the ball hitch
- 4 -
• Once removed, lay the rear bumper on a soft felt underlay, with the inside facing upwards.
• On vehicles with a virtual pedal, an aerial is adhered to the bumper. In such cases, proceed
as follows:
• Disconnect the control unit plug connection for the aerial. Carefully remove the wires for the
red sensor from the connector. Remove the red aerial sensor and the clips from the bumper
and dispose of them as sorted waste.
- 5 -
• Before adhering the frame and the red aerial sensor for the virtual pedal (if fitted), thoroughly
wash the surface of the rear bumper with a solution of mild soapy water.
- 6, 7 -
• In accordance with the workshop's practices, use a suitable tool to make an opening for the
ball hitch, following the pre-punched marking.
Please note: Make the cut along the marked line in the recess.
• Visually check the quality of the opening that has been made.
• If the opening is not quite the right shape, trim the edges and neaten it using a suitable tool.
