cegard/Smart
5.5
Installation
The cegard/Smart control unit must be mounted in a horizontal position on a flat surface on the elevator car top. The
system contains two magnetic strips on the bottom side of the box. Remove the protective film on the magnetic strips
and place the control unit on the elevator cabin roof top. Clean the installation area for the magnets to provide best
stability
The cegard/Smart control unit includes M8 6-pin connector cables for connection of the cegard/Smart light curtain
emitter and receiver.
The cegard/Smart control unit has two additional holes with grommets.
For Europe:
•
One hole is to guide the relay output cable through. This hole has a diameter of 6.4 mm with a through hole.
grommet for cables with a diameter of up to 4 mm.
•
The other hole is to connect the power supply to the PCB. This hole has a diameter of 22.2 mm and has a blind
stopper on it. In this case, the cable can be pushed through the stopper directly.
For North America:
•
The cegard/Smart controller is rated 100-240 VAC supply voltage. The power supply wiring must therefore
be connected to the cegard/Smart controller using a UL/CSA approved Greenfield Fitting. In this case,
remove the 22.2 mm (0.87 in) stopper and use a code-compliant connection means in accordance with
ASME A17.1 / CSA B44 requirements.
•
If interface wiring (e.g., connection of the relay to the door drive), is also greater than 42 Volts, that wiring
must be connected the same means as described in the previous bullet point (e.g., using a UL/CSA approved
Greenfield Fitting).
•
See Figure 8 for a sample installation of a Greenfield fitting with flexible metal conduit.
WARNING - FOR NORTH AMERICA
Remove the blind stopper and connect a UL/CSA approved Greenfield fitting. Power shall be routed
through the Greenfield fitting and e.g., flexible metal conduit (see Figure 8 for example installation).
Both cables must be connected to the 6-pole orange connector according to the wiring diagram (see Chapter Figure
7 and Chapter Figure 9).
Supply power and relay output are connected to the cegard/Smart controller using a six-pole orange terminal block
(Type: WAGO 231-306/026-000).
•
Power supply connection (100-240 VAC) uses the left-most three poles on the connector [Physical Earth /
Ground (PE), Neutral (N) and Line Voltage (L)].
•
Relay connection uses the right-most three poles on the connector.
Use the Normally-Open contact (NO) and Common (COM) if the application requires an electrical signal when there no
person(s) or object(s) has been are detected (signal enables closing of the doors); or,
use the Normally-Closed contact (NC) and Common (COM) when the application requires an electrical signal if there is
no power, or when a person or object has been detected (signal causes the doors to reopen or holds the doors open).
•
Ensure all electrical connections are in accordance with local, regional and national standards and requirements.
•
Refer to Figure 7 below for pin assignments for this connector and Figure 11 for relay output state information.
