IMPRES 2 or IMPRES End-of-Service-Life LED
Indication
The IMPRES 2 charger may indicate IMPRES 2 or IMPRES battery End-of-Service (alternating red and
green) upon successful completion of calibration or reconditioning.
As batteries are used, normal wear reduces available capacity. At the successful completion of calibration
or reconditioning, IMPRES 2 or IMPRES chargers compare IMPRES 2 or IMPRES battery capacity to the
battery-rated capacity. When the capacity is at a very low value, the IMPRES 2 or IMPRES battery is nearing
its End-of -Service. The IMPRES 2 or IMPRES battery remains usable. In some scenarios, it is desirable to
deploy the battery to someone who does not require large battery capacity to complete a work shift.
APX NEXT
™
XN battery comes with high temperature detection feature that is detectable from IMPRES 2
charger with software version V2.05 or newer. When this feature is enabled, the status LED flashes red and
green alternately upon charge completion for battery that went through prolonged exposure under extreme
high temperature environment. The charger displays the following indication:REPLACE BATTERY EXPOSED
OVERTEMP Motorola Solutions recommends removing this battery out from the service.

Charging Batteries or Radios with Batteries
Attached
Batteries charge best at room temperature. IMPRES 2 Multi-Unit Chargers can charge a stand-alone battery
or a battery attached to a radio.
Procedure:
1. Place the charger on a flat surface.
2. Firmly insert the power cord into the charger AC Inlet Socket on the back of the charger.
3. Plug the power cord into a matching power outlet.
4. Upon successful power-up, each Charge Status LED flashes Green for approximately one second
and IMPRES 2 CHARGER is displayed. If the Charger Status LEDs do not flash and no message is
displayed, check both power cord connections.
5. Insert a radio with attached battery or a stand-alone battery into an available pocket.
NOTE: Grip the body of the radio when inserting or removing it from the charger. Avoid pulling
the radio antenna.
6. When the radio or stand-alone battery is properly seated in the pocket, charging status is indicated
by the associated Charge Status LED. The associated Display provides additional information. For
single-display chargers, the display provides charging status of only Pocket #1.
7. The battery is ready for use when the charging status is Steady Green.
8. Turn on the radio only when the Charger Communications Module is detached from a PC. Otherwise,
turn OFF the device or radio.
