Using Zoom

This camera features a 1.3-time zoom. It is
recommended that you use the zoom feature in the
cases described below.
Objective of zooming
This camera enables automatic exposure control in
flash modes without the letter "E." In these modes, it
is not necessary to manually adjust the exposure
according to the shooting distance, i.e., when you have
changed the framing of the subject by changing the
distance. In E mode, however, the exposure needs to
be compensated according to the shooting distance.
To avoid the need of exposure compensation in E
modes, use the zooming feature to change the framing
of the subject and maintain the distance between the
subject and the lens. To do so, set zooming to the
neutral position at the beginning, and use Tele or Wide
according to the size of the subject.
1 Tips
By factory default, zooming is set to the neutral
position. The zooming position, changed by the
operator, is saved in internal memory and kept even
after the camera is turned off. However, if the camera
is turned off and the button battery is not installed, the
zooming position is reset to the neutral position next
time you turn on the camera.

About exposure
Changing the zooming position changes the f value. In
this camera, however, the exposure is electrically
compensated for by a change in the f value. Thus, the
brightness of the photographed pictures remains
practically unchanged between the Tele and Wide
ends.
1 Tips
In flash modes with automatic exposure control,
exposure may be changed according to changes in the
photometry area. This change is irrelevant to the
change in the f value due to zooming.
