1.0 TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION AND CHARACTERISTICS
1.1
DESCRIPTION
These generators are three-phase rectifiers, specially designed for arc wel-
ding with every kind of coated electrode (Manual Metal Arc).
The direct current delivered can be adjusted continually, even under load, by
means of a manually operated magnetic shunt.
The current setting (I2) can be read off the graduated scale on the front
panel, corresponding to the arc voltage (U2) according to the formula U2V
= 20V+ 0.04 I2 (UNI-ISO 700).

DUTY CYCLE
The duty cycle is the percentage of 10 minutes that the welding machine
can weld at its rated current, considering an ambient temperature of 40° C,
without the thermostatic protector cutting in. If it does cut in, it is recom-
mended to wait at least 15 minutes so that the welding machine can cool
and, before welding again, reduce the amperage or the duty cycle.
See Page IV.
1.5
CURVE VOLT - AMPERE
The Volt-Ampere curves show the maximum output current and voltage
that the welding machine can deliver. See Page IV.
2.0 INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT: Before connecting, preparing or using equipment
read, SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.
2.1
CONNECTING THE WELDING MACHINE TO THE MAINS ELECTRICITY SUP-
PLY
Turning off the welding machine while welding could damage it
severely. Check that the power socket is equipped with the fuse indicated in the
technical data table on the generator. All generator models are designed to com-
pensate power supply variations. For variations of +-10%, a welding current varia-
tion of +-0.2% is created.

230V Setting
BEFORE INSERTING THE MAINS PLUG, IN ORDER TO AVOID THE
FAIL OF POWER SOURCE, CHECK IF THE MAINS CORRESPONDS
TO THE WISHED MAIN SUPPLY.
CAUTION
- Before making any electrical connections, check that the machine's rated data
correspond to the mains voltage and frequency available at the place of installa-
tion.
- The machine must be supplied by three conductors, plus a fourth separate con-
ductor used specifically for connecting to protective earth (PE); it can therefore be
connected solely to three-phase distribution systems.
- Depending on the mains voltage available, set the voltage switch using the inter-
lock screw (see figure).
- Connect the power cable to a standardized plug (3p + E) of adequate capacity,
fitted with an earth terminal to which the yellow-green cable conductor will be
connected.
- Prepare a standardized mains socket equipped with fuses or a circuit breaker of
adequate capacity; the specific terminal must be connected to the earth network
of the distribution network (when sizing the supply line, capacity and power, refer
to the data given on the generator's data plate).
