CAUTION
Failure to observe the above rules makes the manufacturer's safety system (class
I) ineffective, which could create severe hazards for people (e.g., electric shock)
and property (e.g., fire).

HANDLING AND TRANSPORTING THE GENERATOR
OPERATOR PROTECTION:
Helmet - Gloves - Safety Shoes.
The welding machine weighs more than 25 kg and it must
not be lifted by the operator. Read the following precautions carefully.
The welding machine is easy to lift and transport. Transporting the equipment is
easy but must be done respecting the following rules:
1.
Always disconnect the generator and all the accessories from the mains
supply before lifting or handling operations.
2.
Do not lift, drag or pull the equipment by the welding or power cables.
3.
To lift this machine, pass an appropriate nylon belt underneath it or use the
specific eyebolts provided.
2.3
POSITIONING THE WELDING MACHINE
Special installation may be required where there is oil or
combustible fluids or gases. Contact the competent authorities.
When positioning the welding machine, ensure that the following precau-
tions are observed:
1.
The operator must have unobstructed access to controls and equipment
connections.
2.
Check that the power cable and fuse of the socket for welding machine con-
nection are adequate for the current required by the machine.
3.
Do not position the welding machine in confined places. Ventilation of the
welding machine is extremely important. Always make sure that the ventila-
tion slots are not obstructed and there is no danger of obstruction during
welding. Additionally, always avoid very dusty or dirty places where dust or
other objects can get drawn in by the welding machine, causing it to ove-
rheat and get damaged.
4.
The welding machine, including the welding and power cables, must not
obstruct passageways or the work of others
5.
Always position the welding machine securely to avoid falling or overtur-
ning.
6.
When the welding machine is located in a raised position, there is the risk it
might fall.
2.4
CONNECTION AND PREPARATION OF EQUIPMENT FOR COATED
ELECTRODE WELDING.
• SWITCH OFF THE WELDING MACHINE BEFORE CARRYING OUT THE
CONNECTIONS.
• CONNECT THE WELDING ACCESSORIES CAREFULLY IN ORDER TO
AVOID POWER LOSSES.

WELDING
CAUTION
1.
Tighten the terminals carefully so that the ends of the welding cables are
secured; otherwise, the terminals would overheat and quickly deteriorate,
making the generator less efficient.
2.
Use the shortest possible clamp and earth leads (_ 10 m.); where it is abso-
lutely necessary to increase the distance between the generator and the
place of work, use cables of cross-section immediately greater than the nor-
mal recommendation for every 10 metre increase in length (e.g., pass from
25 mm2 to 35 mm2). Do not use welding cables longer than 30 metres.
3.
Using metal structures that are not part of the workpiece, such as the wel-
ding current return conductor, can be dangerous and produce unsati-
sfactory welding results.
3.0 WELDING
Almost all coated electrodes must be connected to the generator's positive pole (+); exceptio-
nally to the negative pole (-) (acid coating).
The welding current must be adjusted according to the diameter of the electrode used and the
type of joint you want to make; by way of example, the currents that can be used for the
various electrode diameters are:

It is anyhow always essential to refer to the instructions given on the package of
electrodes used. Bear in mind that for the same electrode diameter, high currents
will be used for horizontal welding and low currents must be used for vertical or
overhead welding. The mechanical characteristics of the welded joint are determi-
ned, not only by the current, but also by welding parameters such as the diameter
and quality of the electrode, length of the arc, speed of execution and also the
conservation of the electrodes that must be kept sheltered from moisture pro-
tected in special packages or containers.
