5.3 Collecting Retentate
Material: 25-50 mL water or buffer
Procedure
Disconnect the feed tube from the feed reservoir.

Start the peristaltic pump.
t
The residual retentate in the cassette(s) and tubing is pumped back into

the feed reservoir.
Stop the peristaltic pump.
t
For a more thorough recovery, flush the system:
t
Fill 25-50 mL of water or sample buffer into a suitable vessel.
t
Place the feed tube into the vessel.
t
Start the peristaltic pump.
t
The buffer flows through the cassette(s) and tubing and is collected
y
into the retentate, in the feed reservoir.
Stop the peristaltic pump.
t
5.4 Malfunctions
Fault
Liquids leak out of
the system during
flushing | filtration
Filtration does not
occur.
Cause
The tubes are not
connected properly.
The wrong tube is in-
serted in the peri-
staltic pump head.
The feed tube is
over- or under-com-
pressed.
