Problems / risks to be avoided

Asphyxia
It is important to know that car emissions contain carbon monoxide (CO), a
colorless and odorless gas. The inhalation of this gas provokes oxygen
deprivation. When working in the pit, one must be twice careful. Gases
accumulate in the bottom of the pit, exactly were one is working.
- Prevention
• Because of that, pits must always have good ventilation and air exhaust.
• If the work is accomplished in a closed place, the exhaust system must be
turned on.
Burns
Components like the turbo compressor, the lambda probe, the exhaust manifold,
the fuel pump and ducts, among others, can reach very high temperatures when
the engine is running.
The very Gauge and its accessories can reach high temperatures.
Therefore, the contact with them can cause burns.
- Prevention
• Use gloves and protective glasses.
• Leave the engine running only for the time needed for the test or tune up.
• Do not leave test device cables near hot parts.
Fire and Explosions
There is risk of fire and explosions when working with the injection/mix
preparation system as a result of the fuel and its vapors.
- Prevention
• Ignition system must be turned off.
• Engine must cool off.
• Never smoke when working.
• Check for fuel leakage.
• Avoid any source of sparks.
• The environment must have a good air exhaustion and ventilation.
