4.2 Warning signals
4.2.1 Battery charge level
INFORMATION
The electronics will turn off if the battery is discharged completely. While the lock can still be opened manually, it
is a slightly cumbersome task.
Should the battery charge level fall below the pre-adjusted capacity value, the electronics will emit the warning sig
nals listed here:
Signal
Battery low
Battery empty
The warning signal is repeated every 15 minutes. Replacing the battery immediately is highly recommended. The
number may vary. How quickly the battery is discharged depends on the ambient temperature: The colder it is, the
faster the battery will be drained. The electronics will turn off if the battery power is insufficient. If this occurs, the
knee joint can only be unlocked manually (see Page 12).
4.2.2 Failure of the electronics
The E-MAG Active is not vulnerable to failure. However, should disruptions occur, the electronics recognise the
failure and send a warning signal.
Signal
Electronics malfunction
In the case of such a failure, the E-MAG Active knee joint can only be opened manually (see Page 12).
5 Maintenance and care
5.1 Maintenance
Have your E-MAG Active checked for wear and for proper function of the electronic components by your ortho
paedic technician every six months.
5.2 Care
1) Keep your orthosis away from environments with high humidity. Use a slightly moistened cloth to clean the
orthosis, E-MAG Active or any of the components from outside.
2) Since the E-MAG Control is a closed locking system, clothing fibres cannot get into the mechanism. However,
please observe the maintenance intervals of six months, because particulate matter can settle in the electronics
and mechanism and can disturb the E-MAG Active.
