8.6 Setting the front wheel
cutting height adjustment
Risk of injury!
Do not reach under the front
wheel cutting height adjustment
with the hands or fingers.
Never put your hands or feet
between the housing and ground.
Danger of burns!
When touching the machine at
wheel fork (1), ensure that you
maintain a safe distance from the
engine and from the silencer – parts
of the engine become hot following
prolonged use.
● To adjust the cutting height adjustment,
hold the machine at wheel fork (1) as
shown, press release lever (2) in the
direction of the arrow and hold during
the adjustment procedure.
Hold wheel fork (1) upwards with the
hand so that the lawn mower cannot
drop to the lowest cutting level under its
own weight.
● Move adjusting pin (3) to the "Adjusting
cutting height" position (=centre
position).
● Reducing the cutting height:
The cutting level is reduced by pushing
on wheel fork (1).
Increasing the cutting height:
Lift the machine and push down on
swivelling axle (4) of the front wheel
from above using the other hand until
the desired cutting height is reached.
● Checking the cutting height:
Select the cutting height (cutting levels
1 to 5 as shown) so that the cutting level
at the rear wheel is the same as the
cutting level at the front wheel. The
housing must be parallel to the ground.

● Release release lever (2).
● Push adjusting pin (3) further to the left

or right as required. (
8.7 Opening and closing the
discharge flap
Always open or close the discharge
flap completely in order to prevent
blockages in the housing.
1 Closing the discharge flap:
● Release the fastening of discharge
flap (1) and close discharge flap (2) –
press in the direction of the housing.
● Tighten the fastening of discharge
flap (1) again.
2 Opening the discharge flap:
● Release the fastening of discharge
flap (1) and open discharge flap (2) –
pull outwards as far as it will go.
● Tighten the fastening of discharge
flap (1) again.
9. Safety devices
The machine is equipped with several
safety devices for safe operation and for
the prevention of improper use.
Risk of injury!
If a safety device is found to be
defective, the machine must not be
operated. Consult a specialist
dealer; VIKING recommends
VIKING specialist dealers.

The lawn mower is equipped with safety
devices, which prevent inadvertent contact
with the mowing blade and with ejected
clippings.
These include the housing, discharge flap

and correctly installed handlebar.
9.2 Motorstop lever
The lawn mower is equipped with a
motorstop device.
The engine stops when the motorstop
lever is released during running operation.
The engine and blade come to a standstill
within 3 seconds.
Risk of injury!
If the run-on time of the blade
exceeds this delay, stop using the
machine and take it to your
specialist dealer.
Measuring the run-on time
Following engine start-up, the blade
rotates and a wind noise is audible. The
run-on time corresponds to the duration of
the wind noise after the engine stops. This
can be measured using a stopwatch.
10. Notes on working with
the machine
10.1 Applications
The lawn mower can be used as a
mulching mower or side discharge mower
as required.
