The cable conduit union with the cabinet must
be secured by HB Flame Class (or higher)

Before mounting the Fire panel backplate, the

FC500IP module should be installed, if applicable,
as described in the installation manual of the
FC501 panel.
Pull the channelled undertrack cables through the

cable entry and for the power supply cable.
Then, using the anchor screws locations, secure
the backplate to the wall.
Make sure all debris is removed from the enclosure.

On the last page of the manual, at the bottom,
you can cut the identification label of the SW
zones, to be inserted in the pocket of the User in-
terface (see t h e Installer Manual on page 15
and page 38).
STEP 2 – Pre-Commissioning Checks
You will need to make temporary connections so that
you can test the wiring for continuity, insulation etc.
Run the loop wiring around the building and wire up

the detector bases according to the system
plan/design. Run any other wiring required for an-
cillary modules. Clearly label the "+" and "-" conduc-
tors. Connect these to the corresponding terminals
of the detector bases. Where screened cables have
been used and no earth connections are provided
at the device, join the loop screen connections
together using terminal block connector thus
maintaining the integrity of the loop earth. At this
stage do not wire in any isolator bases and mod-
ules or fit the detectors. This is because these
items will be damaged by any high voltage in-
sulation checks performed. Use terminal block
connectors for any temporary connections to pre-
serve continuity. Details of wiring individual de-
vices are provided with the items themselves. At
this stage do not make the final connections at the
control panel as you will be testing the wiring and
you will need access to the free ends of the wire.
At the control panel, feed cables through the appro-

priate knockouts. Use glands as appropriate.
Leave generous tails of wire.
Connect the loop wiring tails to a terminal block

connector. Place this loosely in the housing (in or-
der to avoid accidental connection to the panel be-
fore pre-checks).

If any conventional sounder circuits are run then

check that the correct polarity is maintained, all de-
vices have correct polarity and that the 3.9 Kohm
end of the line resistor has been fitted within the
last device of the circuit.

WARNING: Danger of damage to equipment.
Before using a high-voltage insulation tester,
ensure that no devices liable to be damaged are
fitted to the circuit. This includes isolator bases
and ancillary modules.
Ensure that the insulation check, the cabling re-

sistance check and all other necessary checks
comply with the current local laws.
Note: make sure that the mains earth is connected
to the safety earth bar located in the upper part
of the panel backplate.
STEP 3 – Install the Batteries

WARNING: The standby batteries can deliver
high current presenting danger of injury and
equipment damage while working on the panel.
Take care not to accidentally short the battery
terminals.
The FC501-L control panel provides housing for two
12V, 7Ah or 12Ah maximum batteries;
Moreover, the FC501-H and FC501-HK control panel
can be connected to two 12V, 12Ah or 38Ah in an
external metal box for power in the event of a Mains
failure.
Locate the backup batteries in the housing in the

bottom of backplate (two 12V, 7Ah or 12Ah):
secure the batteries with the plastic straps to the
backplate of the panel using the appropriate open-
ing;
Using the Jumper (supplied), connect the batteries
in series.
Observing the battery polarity, connect the battery

terminals to terminals -BAT+ on Main Board (wires
supplied).
The FC501 control panel supports the KST thermal
probe. The probe will optimize the battery charging
process by regulating the charge voltage in accor-
dance with the battery temperature.
Connect the probe to the dedicated connector on
3.
the switching Power supply. Attach the probe to
one of the batteries, in such a way as to obtain opti-
mum heat transfer.
Re-fit the label of the batteries with the current date.
