Phase I – Inflammatory Phase:

All hook and loop closures on the orthosis are unfastened.
>
The patient is in a lying position.
1) Position the foot at a 90° angle in the orthosis (see fig. 5).
2) Fasten the centre hook and loop closure (marking I) of the orthosis (see
fig. 6).
3) Fasten the lower hook and loop closure (marking II) of the orthosis.
4) Fasten the upper hook and loop closure (marking III) of the orthosis.
5) Optional: Shorten or move the hook and loop closures.
6) With the patient sitting, place the foot at a 90° angle sole-down on the
floor.
7) Unfasten the medial and lateral straps of the foot shell and tighten them
so that the foot is in the neutral position (90°) (see fig. 7).
INFORMATION: Wearing a sock under the orthosis and using the
padding provided (see fig. 1, item 4) prevent skin irritation from
the foot shell for patients sensitive to pressure.
8) Guide the lateral (outer) end of the stabilisation strap over the instep
towards the medial side (inwards) (see fig. 8).
9) Pull the stabilisation strap laterally (outwards) underneath the foot shell
(see fig. 9).
10) Fasten the stabilisation strap on the lateral (outer) side at the upper end
of the foot shell (see fig. 10).
11) Guide the medial (inner) end of the stabilisation strap over the instep
towards the lateral side (outwards) (see fig. 11).
12) Pull the stabilisation strap medially (inwards) underneath the foot shell
(see fig. 12).
13) Fasten the stabilisation strap on the medial (inner) side at the upper end
of the foot shell (see fig. 13).
14) Optional: Shorten the stabilisation strap.
Phase II – Proliferation Phase:
1) Unfasten the stabilisation strap.
2) Open and remove the orthosis.
3) Remove the foot shell from the orthosis (see fig. 14).
4) Put on the orthosis and fasten the hook and loop closures.
5) Refasten the stabilisation strap as described in phase 1.
