5.2 Adaptation
CAUTION
Mechanical damage to the product
Injuries due to changes in or loss of functionality
Use caution when working with the product.
Check the product for proper function and readiness for use.
In case of changes in or loss of functionality, discontinue use of the product and have it
checked by authorised, qualified personnel.
Adapting the pads
1) Apply the pads to the thigh so that the guide loops face in the proximal direction (see fig. 1).
2) Determine the required abduction angle.
3) If necessary: Use sandpaper to roughen the surfaces of the pads and glue on additional lay­
ers (see fig. 2).
4) Grind the surfaces of the pads (see fig. 3).
NOTICE! Do not grind the pad surfaces further than the mark.
Adapting the belt length
1) Trial fit the pants on the patient.
2) Mark the required length of the belt ends.
3) Mark the position of the guide loop (see fig. 4) and the hook-and-loop closure (see fig. 5) for
sewing.
4) Sew the guide loop and hook-and-loop closure for the belt (see fig. 6).
5) If necessary: Adapt the fit of the pants.
Adjusting the pads
1) Insert the pads into the pad pockets on the pants so that the guide loops face in the proximal
direction (see fig. 7).
2) Pull the guide loops of the pads out through the openings in the pants (see fig. 8).
3) Close the hook-and-loop closures on the pockets.
4) Attach the cross straps on the guide loops of the pads (see fig. 9).
5) Trial fit the pants on the patient (see fig. 10).
6) Determine the position of the cross straps and temporarily secure the cross straps with
double hook-and-loop (see fig. 11).
7) Check the tension of the cross straps (see fig. 13).
8) Mark the position of the cross straps for later sewing (see fig. 12).
INFORMATION: Make sure that the routing of the straps is symmetrical in case of
symmetrical hips (see fig. 14).
9) Sew the cross straps (see fig. 15).
Functional test
1) Verify the fit and functionality of the orthosis.
2) If necessary: Fine-tune the pads using the straps.
