Safety notes

In order to operate the RoMatik XS safely, please read the safety information listed here
very carefully.
1.1 Explanation of symbols used
The following symbols have been used in this manual:
Warning against potential serious or fatal injuries to persons if the
described precautionary measures are not taken.

1.2 Proper use
 The RoMatik XS reverse osmosis device serves for the preparation (desalinization) of
cold untreated water (max. 35°C) for ultimate use in commercial dishwashers. The
RoMatik XS reduces the overall salt content of the untreated water. The treated water
is comparable to the purity of distilled water.
 The quality of the untreated water must conform to the requirements of the German
potable water ordinance. In addition, the limits listed in the technical information must
be maintained.
 The RoMatik XS may only be used in connection with a commercial dishwasher.
 The RoMatik XS is a technical device for commercial use and is not intended for
private use.
1.3 Improper use
 The untreated water prepared with the RoMatik XS may not be utilized as drinking
water.
 The RoMatik XS is not intended for use by persons (including children) with limited
physical, sensory or mental capabilities or who do not have the required experience
with and knowledge of this device. Such persons must either be instructed by a
supervisor who is responsible for their safety or must be supervised during the
operation of the device.
 Winterhalter Gastronom GmbH does not assume liability or warranty in the event that
the device is used improperly.
2 Before working with the RoMatik XS
 Check the delivery on the basis of the delivery note for completeness and transport
damage.
 In case of any damage, inform the shipper, the insurance agency and the
manufacturer about it.
 Get the machine connected to water supply and the sewer as per the locally
applicable standards and the regulations of the authorised mechanics For more
information, please see pages 7 and 8.
 Get the RoMatik XS commissioned by a service engineer authorised by Winterhalter.
Get yourself and your operating personnel trained in the operation of the machine.

1.4 Requirements for the dishwasher connected to the device
 The RoMatik XS may only be used in connection with a commercial dishwasher with
a pressure independent boiler. Use on a dishwasher with a pressure boiler is
possible. The yield is reduced, however, and the fill time of the dishwasher is
extended.
 All components of the dishwasher which come into contact with water must be
suitable for osmosis water. Use of nonferrous metals is not permitted. Only synthetic
components and stainless steel components may be utilized.
1.5 General safety notes
 Read through the safety notes and operating instructions in this manual carefully.
Winterhalter Gastronom GmbH does not assume liability or warranty in case of non-
adherence to these safety notes.
 Use the RoMatik XS only after you have read and understood the operating manual.
Allow the Winterhalter Customer Service Department to provide information about the
operation and function. Always operate the RoMatik XS as described in this operating
manual.
 Train the operating personnel as regards handling the RoMatik XS and inform them
about the safety notes. Repeat the training sessions at regular intervals to prevent
accidents.
 Keep the machine documents accessible.
 Do not make changes, additions or reconstructions in the dish washer without the
approval of the manufacturer.
 Danger of electric shock: Do not open any machine covers or machine parts if it
requires tools. Do not manipulate the electrical components of the device yourself,
always call a professional (electrical technician).
 Disconnect the water supply immediately if the device becomes leaky at any location.
Pull the plug in order to disconnect the power to the device and close the water valve.
 In case of danger and/or defects, switch off the RoMatik XS immediately. Pull the
plug. Only then is the RoMatik XS without power.
 Do not insert the plug or pull it out with wet hands.
 Pull the plug from the outlet only by the plug, not using the cord.
 Contact the Winterhalter Customer Service in case of defects that are not caused due
to the local water or the current supply line. In case of defects resulting from an
unknown cause, switch off the RoMatik XS, and switch it on again only when the
defect has been rectified.
 For your safety, test the local fault current circuit breaker (FI) regularly by pressing the
test button.

4 Operation
4.1 Normal Operation (Water treatment)
Under normal operation, the RoMatik XS prepares water as soon as the connected
dishwasher requests it. The conductivity of the treated water can be displayed.
 Press the on/off key to switch on the RoMatik XS

4.2 Stand-by Mode
The RoMatik XS does not treat any water in the Stand-By mode.
4.2.1 Device Software Version

4.2.2 Automatic Wash
To maintain the membrane, in the Stand-By mode, the "flushing" mode is switched on
automatically once an hour.

The water will not run over the
membranes of the RoMatik XS, but
directly to the water outlet and then to
the dishwasher.
