7.1.1 Insulating the pump in refrigerating/air-conditioning systems
The Wilo-Stratos/Stratos-D/Stratos-Z series is suitable for use in refrigeration
and air-conditioning systems with system fluid temperatures down to
14°F (-10°C).
For applications in cooling and air-conditioning systems, commercially-
available diffusion-proof thermal insulation materials must be used.
CAUTION! Possible damage of the pump!
If the diffusion-proof pump insulation is created by the customer, the pump
volute may be insulated up to the motor stator housing, so that the
condensate drain openings remain open and allow the condensate
accumulating in the motor to flow out without obstruction (fig. 5).
7.2 Electrical connection
DANGER! Electrical shock hazard!
Dangers caused by electrical energy must be excluded.
• Electrical work by a qualified electrician only!
• National Electrical Codes, local codes and regulations must be strictly
followed.
• All electrical connections must be performed after the electrical supply has
been switched off and secured against unauthorized switching. Work on the
module may only be started once 5 minutes have passed, due to the
dangerous residual contact voltage.
• For safe installation and operation a proper grounding of the pump to the
power supply's grounding terminals is required.
• Check to ensure that all connections (including potential-free contacts) are
voltage-free.
• If the control module is damaged, the pump must not be put into operation
• If setting and operating elements are improperly removed, there is a danger
of electric shock if interior electrical components are touched.
• Connecting the pump to an uninterrupted power supply (UPS or IT power
supply) is prohibited
CAUTION! Risk of damage to property!
An incorrect electrical connection can cause damage to property.
• If the wrong voltage is applied, the motor can be damaged!
• Control via triacs / semi-conductor relays must be checked in individual
cases, since the electronics can be damaged!
• When the pump is switched on/off by external control devices, the mains
voltage pulsing (i.e. by a pulse packet control) must be deactivated to
prevent damage to the electronics.
• Suitable mains fuse is required to protect the motor per local electrical codes.
• The operating voltage and frequency are marked on the rating plate.
