Manu active
Intended purpose
protect.Manu active is a compres-
sive wrist support. The product is
exclusively to be used for the
orthotic fitting of the wrist and
only on intact skin or if any wounds
have been properly covered.
Indications
All indications in which support of
the wrist by a strengthening or pad
is necessary, such as:
• Wrist injuries, e.g. sprains,
ligament tears
• Inflammation (post-traumatic,
post-operative, rheumatic)
• Wrist osteoarthritis
• Tenosynovitis
• Sensation of instability
Contraindications
No general side effects are known.
However, if supports (or similar
aids) are too tight, local pressure
effects or constriction of blood
vessels or nerves may occur in
individuals. If you have any of the
following complaints please
consult your doctor before using
the brace:
• Disease or injury to the skin in the
area that the brace is used on,
particularly when signs of
infection (excessive heat, swelling
or redness) are apparent.
• Paraesthesia and circulatory
disorders in the lower arm and
hand (e.g. as seen in diabetes)
• Lymph flow disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue which is
adjacent to the area of applica-
tion and is not related to a
condition
Mechanism of action
The combination of compressive
knitted fabric, belt strap and rod
has a stabilising effect, which
prevents disadvantageous
movements of the wrist joint. This
reduces stress on the lower arm
musculature, as well as the tendons
and tendon insertions in the
affected area, and alleviates pain.
Instructions for fitting
Before fitting the support, open the
belt strap.
Pull the support over the hand and
insert the thumb through the
lateral opening (Fig. 1+2).
Pull the belt strap round the joint
and attach the end to the strap
(Fig. 3+4).
Please note that the support should
be fitted for the first time as
instructed by trained specialists.
Note on wear
Supports have the greatest effect
during physical activity. In
principle, the bandage can be worn
throughout the day. During long
periods of rest (e.g. sleeping), the
support should be removed.
Care instructions
Please close the hook and loop
fasteners before washing and
remove the splint. Soap residues,
lotions and ointments can cause
skin irritation
and material wear.
