1 Indications for use

The 4R140 Ottobock One-Way Valve may only be used for transtibial pros-
thetic fittings. It is not suitable for the use in swimming prostheses.
2 Indication
In combination with a PUR- or TPE-coated knee sleeve the 4R140 One-
Way Valve serves to create a vacuum in a transtibial socket, which helps to
minimize shearing and friction forces.
3 Description (Fig. 1)
The 4R140 One-Way Valve ejects excessive air out of the socket during
stance phase and closes during the swing phase to prevent further inflow
of air. Thanks to this system, friction and shearing forces are minimized.
The 4R140 One-Way Valve consists of:

(3) Knurled Nut
(4) Dummy Set
(5) Dust Filter
