When measuring the center of gravity line the patient is placed on the force sensing plate with
both legs in front/ sagittal view.
When measuring the weight bearing line, the patient is placed on the force sensing plate with one
leg, for example the prosthetically fitted side – in front/ sagittal view. With the other leg the patient
steps on the leveling plate (Fig. 5 + 6).
Microprocessors, being programmed with software of the measuring procedure, have been in
tregrated in the L.A.S.A.R.Posture.
Different functions can be selected by using the operating and display unit:
1. Measuring mode 2. Additional mode
5.1 Operating and Display Unit

5.1.1 Measuring Mode

After selfcalibration the display indicates 0.0 kg and 0 mm. During weight bearing on the force
sensing plate the display indicates the load in kg. By means of the functional key (1) the laser can
be shifted to the left and by means of the functional key (2) to the right (Fig. 8) and the deviation
is displayed in mm. If the position of the laser exceeds the measurement area, the laser will turn
itself off. The difference between the present laser position and the center of gravity or weight
bearing line of the body can be set to 0 mm with a functional Key (3).
You can change to the additional mode by using the mode key (4).
5.1.2 Additional Mode
After activating the mode key (4) the display indicates 'Zero', 'LS' and 'Watch'.
If the display does not indicate 0.0 kg though the force sensing plate is not loaded, the apparatus
can be newly calibrated by activating functional key (1).
After display correction with functional key (1) , return to the measuring mode is provided auto
matically.
By means of the functional key (3) the 'LS' (= Laser switch) may be selected. Thus the laser
remains continuously switched on.
The automatic laser cutoff may be switched on again by activating the LS function.
After the LS function has been executed, a change to the measuring mode always takes place.
By pressing the functional key (2) (= 'Watch') the display indicates load of the four integrated
force measuring cells for control of the function.
In the case of an unloaded force sensing plate, the display indicates 0.00 for each force measur
ing cell.
Via mode key (4) a change to the measuring mode may take place again.

5.2 Measuring Procedure

5.2.1 The Body's Center of Gravity Line
After selfcalibration the L.A.S.A.R. –Posture is ready for measuring.
For weight measuring the patient is placed on the force sensoring plate with both legs.
Standing position should be normal if possible.
The display indicates the body weight in kg. The laser line indicates the body's center of gravity
line in front/ sagittal view.
In order to check special measuring points the laser can be shifted to the left via functional key
(1) and to the right via functional key (2) (Fig. 9 + 10).
