The difference between the actual laser position and the body's center of gravity line is indicated
by the display in mm.
5.2.2 Weight Bearing Line and Prosthetic Alignment
In order to measure the weight bearing line, for example, a transfemoral amputee with the pros
thetically fitted side is placed on the force sensing plate after the L.A.S.A.R. –Posture has finished
the selfcalibration, and the sound leg of the amputee is placed on the leveling plate.
Standing position should be normal if possible. In this case the display indicates the load of the
prosthetic leg in kgs. The laser line indicates the weight bearing line of the prosthetically fitted
side in the front/ sagittal view (Fig. 5 + 6)
In order to examine special measuring points, the laser can be shifted to the left via functional key
(1) and to the right via functional key (2).
The difference between the actual laser position and the body's center of gravity line is indicated
by the display in mm.
The 4R1 Adjustment Adapter and connection to the L.A.S.A.R. Posture have proven useful for
6 Mobile Use
Easy handling of the L.A.S.A.R.Posture apparatus and the low weight are favorable factors for
mobile use.
When taking the L.A.S.A.R.Posture along with you, use the portable case supplied together with
the apparatus.
Avoid strong vibrations.
7 Maintenance
The apparatus requires no maintenance. The glass in front of the laser and that covering the photo
diode in the slot (Fig. 7) should be regularly cleaned.
For hygienic reasons the surface to step on the force sensing plate should be desinfected using
a wet cloth. Caution: Make sure that no liquid penetrates the force sensing plate, as this would
lead to faults.
If the fuse is damaged, the mains plug must be removed and the fuse (200 mA) exchanged (see
Fig. 2).
In case of malfunction or defects of the apparatus, please, contact your nearest authorized Ot
tobock agent, phone no. ** (0)5527/ 848 1394.
Do not disassemble the apparatus. Repairs should only be executed by the specialist staff of
Ottobock.
8 Function Test
To make sure that the L.A.S.A.R. Posture is functioning properly, we recommend the following
tests:
• Position test: Press the force sensing plate; the laser should move to the force transmission
point.
• Indication of weight: Check with a known weight (more than 20 kg, less than 125 kg) ≤ 1 kg.
• Vertical test: Use a plumb line to make sure the laser line runs vertically.
