1 Introduction and Application
Before starting operation of the L.A.S.A.R –Posture, please, read these Operating Instructions
carefully.
Proper use will provide better results, increase life of the apparatus and avoid possible risks.
If the device is not properly handled, the guarantee expires and the operator will be responsible
for possible damages.
The L.A.S.A.R Posture determines the vertical component of the ground reaction force and projects
a lasar line onto the person being measured, thus providing objective data about static alignment.
The center of gravity or weight bearing line normally invisible to the naked eye is thus made ap
parent. The device is suitable for persons with a body weight of up to 125 kg.

2 Safety Information

1.
The L.A.S.A.R. Posture may only be operated at the voltage indicated in the
Instructions for Use and on the type plate.
2.
Do not operate the apparatus if the power cable or charging device show
visible damage. In case of damage the apparatus should immediately be sent
to an Ottobock service facility.
3.
The device must be used in dry rooms and and be placed on even horizontal
surfaces.
4.
Be careful to prevent particles or liquid from getting into the device and do not
expose it to intensive smoke or dust.
5.
The device must not be exposed to shock waves and must be transported only
in the transport case.
6.
Do not look into the laser at short distance. In the extreme case the eyes could be
damaged (Laser class 2 BGI 832).
7.
Do not use solvents or diluents for cleaning.
8.
Disassembly and repair of the device may be done by Ottobock staff (Ottobock
Service) only.
9.
Improper handling may cause risks for the user.
10.
If the device is diverted from its intended use, or is inproperly used, no liability is
assumed in case of possible damages. Photos for patient documentation must
be taken without photoflash (maladjustment).
3 Components and Technical Data
The L.A.S.A.R.Posture consists of the following functional components (Fig. 3):
• Force sensing platform with 4 integrated force measurement cells (1)
• Projection system with laser and line optics (2)
• Positioning system with electronics and linear drive (3)
• Control and display unit (4)
• Leveling plate (5)
The L.A.S.A.R.Posture is provided with a laser of laser class 2. The special line optics cause
a strong fanning of the usually bundled laser beam. Therefore, the intensity of the radiation is
considerably reduced.
