Appendix 5 - Transferring measurements and curves to a PC
Connect the unit to the PC serial port (COM1 for example) via a serial cable (P.N. 615917470)
1 - CONNECTION
On the DELTA:
Check the "serial link/parameters" (for example, by default, 19 200bits/s, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity)
On the PC:
- Open "Hyperterminal" (see Accessories/Communication file)
- Enter the name of a new connection (e.g.: delta).
- In parameters, enter "connect by using" = "Direct to Com1".
- Select the port parameters to 19 200, 8, 1 stop, no parity bit, hardware flow control.
- Validate; then you can re-use the configuration created (e.g.: delta.ht) by a double click on it.
- To save the data transmitted into a file, Select "Transfer/capture text".
- Enter the desired file name (e.g.: delta.txt).
Warning: if the file already exists, the data will be added into it.
- Click on "Start"
2 - MEASUREMENT TRANSMISSION
On the DELTA
To transfer the measurements of a task
- Go to the "Measurements/Results" screen
¥
- Press
key
- Select the "PC" peripheral
- If the case arises, select the header, format, number of measurements
¥
¢
- Press
or
and confirm.
On the PC
The data are transferred and displayed on the Hyperterminal screen.
At the end of the transfer, select "Transfer/capture text/stop"
The file is ready to be processed by a word processor or a spreadsheet.
3 - CURVE TRANSMISSION
On the DELTA
To transfer the torque curve saved:
- Go to the "Curve/results" screen.
- Select the "PC" peripheral.
- Select the header and the curve type if the case arises.
¢
- Press
and confirm the question "do you want to print the curve?".
On the PC
The curve data are transferred and displayed on the Hyperterminal screen.
At the end of the transfer, select "Transfer/capture text/stop"
The file is ready to be processed by a word processor or a spreadsheet.
This file is in standard ASCII representation, with "points" as decimal separator.
4 - PROCESSING THE "CURVE" FILE
As an example, you can process the "curve.txt" file imported in Excel as follows:
- Open Excel
- "File/Open" the "curve.txt" file
- In the file import assistant window, click on the "End" button
- If Windows is configured to represent the numbers with a decimal point and not a comma, you must "replace" the
points by commas.
- Select the 2 columns in the table, by pressing "Shift""Ctrl" "End", for example.
