Apart from the motor carbon brushes the stirrer is maintenance free and only subject to a
natural ageing process and the statistical failure rate of the components. All bearings of the
stirring motor are sufficiently lubricated so that with careful handling no maintenance is
necessary. Should there be any problems, please send the instrument to Marienfeld or your
agent.
 Advice for service technicians only:
The device is 2-phase protected. The electronic fuses are located on the PCB.
Disconnect the instrument from the mains supply before opening the instrument.
The carbon brushes in the motor are subject to natural abrasion. They can be changed as
described following herewith:
1. Switch off the instrument.
2. Unplug the AC power.
3. Remove the black cover at the side of the motor.
4. Bent up the metal clip and take out the spring.
5. Use a small screwdriver to remove the clip from the carbon and take out the
carbon.
6. Replace the carbon, attach the spring, bent back the clip and attach the black
cover.
In case that the tooth belt needs to be changed, please follow this instruction:
1. Switch off the instrument.
2. Unplug the AC power.
3. Remove the hard plastic undercover.
4. Remove the tooth belt from the large cogwheel.
5. Pull the new tooth belt onto the small cogwheel first and then onto the large
cogwheel.
6. Now turn the large cogwheel slightly until the belt is in the proper position.

8. Dismantling

Switch of the stirrer and disconnect from the mains. Remove any glass beakers and any
other equipment around the overhead stirrer.
Now unfasten the keyless chuck and remove the stirrer blade. After that remove the stirrer
from the support and remove the support rod.

9. Transport and storage

Please use, if possible, the original packaging. Protect the instrument by means of bubble
wrap against mechanical shocks from the outside. In case you do not use the original
packaging, please mark the box with the following notes:
Glass symbol (Fragile! Handle with care!)
