All the air filter components in this
machine are matched with one another
as regards filter capacity and air
permeability.
Only original STIHL air filters should
therefore be used. The high quality
standard of these parts coupled with the
specified maintenance and service work
guarantees troublefree operation and a
long engine life.
Important!
The engine is not always optimally
protected against entrained dirt when
using filters which appear to fit but are
made by other manufacturers. Warranty
claims cannot be accepted if the engine
parts wear down excessively or the
engine is damaged in such cases.

Motor Management
Exhaust emissions are controlled by the
design of the fundamental engine
parameters and components (e.g.
carburation, ignition, timing and valve or
port timing) without the addition of any
major hardware.
Setting the carburetor
The carburetor is set by the
manufacturer so that an optimum
mixture of fuel and air is delivered to the
engine in all operating conditions.
Emissions when idling and at part-load
are minimized by limiting the idle
mixture.
Standard setting
:
Check the air filter and clean or
replace it if necessary
:
Check the spark arresting screen
and clean or replace it if necessary
:
Let the engine warm up
:
Carefully screw the low speed
adjusting screw (L) clockwise down
onto its seat, then back off one turn
counterclockwise
(standard setting, L = 1)
