Safety and warning information

When installing the atmoMAG, observe the general
safety instructions and the warning notes which appear
before each of the actions.
2.1.1
Classification of warnings
The warnings are classified in accordance with
the severity of the possible danger using the following
warning signs and signal words:

Structure of warnings

Warning signs are identified by an upper and lower sep-
arating line. and are laid out according to the following
basic principle:

Intended use

The Vaillant MAG series of gas fired instantaneous
water heaters are state-of-the-art units which have
been constructed in accordance with recognised safety
regulations. Nevertheless, there is still a risk of injury or
death to the operator or others or of damage to the unit
and other property in the event of improper use or use
for which the unit is not intended.
Vaillant MAG series gas fired instantaneous water heat-
ers are not intended for use by persons (including chil-
dren) with physical, sensory or mental impairments or
who have inadequate experience and/or knowledge,
unless they are supervised by a person responsible for
their safety or have been given instructions by this per-
son regarding the operation of the unit.
Children must be supervised to ensure they do not play
with the unit.
The gas fired instantaneous water heaters are specifi-
cally intended for the production of hot water by means
of gas.
Using Vaillant MAG series gas fired instantaneous water
heaters in vehicles is regarded as improper use. Units
that are not classed as vehicles are those that are
installed in a fixed and permanent location (known as
"fixed installation").
Any other use, or use beyond that specified, shall be
considered as improper use. Any direct commercial or
industrial use is also deemed to be improper. The manu-
facturer/supplier is not liable for any claims or damage
resulting from improper use. The user alone bears the
risk.
Intended use includes the observance of the Operating
and Installation Manual and all other applicable docu-
ments, as well as adherence to the maintenance and
inspection conditions.
The gas fired instantaneous water heater must be
installed by a qualified specialist tradesman. He will be
held responsible for observing compliance with all cur-
rent rules, regulations and directives.

General safety instructions

Observe the following safety instructions at all times.
What to do in an emergency if you smell gas
A malfunction may mean that gas is leaking and there
may be a risk of poisoning or explosion. If there is a
smell of gas in the building, proceed as follows:
>
Avoid rooms that smell of gas.
>
If possible, open doors and windows fully and ensure
adequate ventilation.
>
Avoid the use of naked flames (e.g. lighters,
matches).
>
Do not smoke.
>
Do not use any electrical switches, mains plugs, door-
bells, telephones or other intercommunication sys-
tems in the building.
