Unilateral Wheel Lock– if so equipped
Your chair may be equipped with a unilateral, push-to-lock wheel lock mechanism. This
mechanism allows engagement of both rear wheel locks by pushing forward on a single
lever. Pulling rearward on the single lever releases both wheel locks.
Extension for the Wheel Lock Lever– if so equipped (Fig. 6)
The extension for the wheel lock lever can be removed or folded down. The longer lever
helps to minimize the effort needed to set the wheel locks.
Mounting the wheel lock too close toward the wheel will result in a higher effort to
operate. This might cause the wheel lock lever extension to break!
Leaning onto the wheel lock lever extension while transferring will cause the lever
to break!
Splashing water from tires might cause the wheel lock to malfunction.
E. FOOTPLATES (Fig. 7)
The footplates can be flipped up to facilitate getting in and getting out of your wheelchair.
Lower Leg Length Adjustment
By loosening the cap screws (A) on both footrest hangers, the legrests can be adjusted to
fit any lower leg length. Loosen the screws, set the tubing with legrest in the desired posi-
tion, and then tighten the screws. (See section XII. TORQUE).
A minimum interval of 2 1/2 inches (64mm) from the ground should always be
maintained to provide sufficient clearance. If set too low, they may "hang up" on
obstacles. This may cause the chair to stop suddenly and tip forward.
Angle Adjustable Footplates – if so equipped
Your chair may be equipped with angle adjustable footplates. To adjust, loosen fasteners
securing footplate sufficient to allow rotation. Rotate to appropriate angle and re-tighten
fasteners.
F. LEGRESTS AND LATCH (Fig. 8)
The legrest can be swung in, underneath the seat sling, or outward to remove.
Mount legrest by fully inserting hanger plug (B) into frame with the footplate(s) oriented
toward the in/outside. Then rotate the legrest toward the midline until it locks into place.
Test to make sure that the legrest is properly locked into place.
To remove the legrest, engage the lever (C) rearward to disengage latch, then swing the
footrest toward the in/outside. Lift to remove it.
The legrests should not be used to lift or to carry the wheelchair with an occupant.
Lift chair only by non-detachable parts of the main frame.
