9. Maintenance, care and storage
Maintenance
Maintenance covers all work
that keeps your lawnmower in
good working order. You can
prevent accidents and failure of
parts by checking your lawn-
mower regularly (check that the
bolted connections are secure,
check for cracks and damage)
and by replacing damaged or
worn parts.
Repairs must only be carried out
by the service centres authorised
by the manufacturer or autho-
rised specialist dealers.
Warning! Always unplug
A
the spark plug connector
before carrying out all work and
repairs on your lawnmower.
Otherwise there is a risk of injury.
Check the grass catching device
regularly for wear or reduced
function. For safety reasons,
always replace worn or dam-
aged parts.
Store your lawnmower in a dry
place that is protected from frost.
Store your lawnmower out of the
reach of children.
Do not tilt the motor onto the
spark plug or carburettor side.
Replacing the blade
Figure H
Please only use original replace-
ment blades as it is otherwise
the case that the function and
safety can be impaired.

Mowing without using the
grass collecting bag
The protective flap is so posi-
tioned that it is possible to mow
This replacement blade can be
obtained from your authorised
Brill dealer.
Never use spare parts and
accessories which are not envis-
aged by the manufacturer.
Blades with broken out edges
must be replaced immediately
(out-of-balance).
Do not regrind blades (out-of-
balance) and always use or
replace in pairs.
When replacing the blades,
always use the screwed connec-
tions included with the replace-
ment blades!
1. Pull out the spark plug!
2. Loosen the two fastening nuts
by holding on to the corre-
sponding screws.
3. Turn over the blades or insert
a complete set of new blades
and tighten in place (tighten-
ing torque: 25 Nm).
When inserting, ensure that the
toothed lock washers are situated
underneath the nuts and that the
nuts are positioned against the
cutter bar.
Exchanging the Blade
Please only use original replace-
ments blades supplied by the
manufacturer. Original replace-
ment blades are available from
your specialist dealer.
Never use replacement parts or
accessories not supplied by the
manufacturer.
without the grass collecting bag
and with the protective flap
closed. In this case, the cuttings
are deposited on the lawn
underneath the protective flap.
If the cutter bar is damaged, it
must be replaced due to the
associated problems with imbal-
ance. For safety reasons, the cut-
ter bar must only be replaced at
the service centres approved by
the manufacturer or by specialist
dealers.
Replacing the aerator cylinder
The aerator cylinder is subjected
to use-related wear. In the case
of wear occurring as shown in
(fig. I, item 1), a deep aeration
is no longer possible. The aera-
tor cylinder should be replaced.
This is to be carried out by
a Brill service station for safety
reasons.
Maintenance work on the motor
Refer to the motor manufacturer's
instruction manual enclosed.
Servicing the motor
In order to guarantee a trouble-
free running of the motor, your
lawnmower should be inspected
(valves adjustment, etc.) in an
authorised workshop every
2 – 3 years.
Maintaining the wheel drive
The transmission runs in a closed
oil-bath maintenance free. If the
clutch should engage too late or
slip, the wheel drive clutch cable
can be readjusted. To do so,
loosen the locking nut (fig. G,
item 1) by a rotation and adjust
the locking nut (fig. G, item 2)
whilst holding onto the clutch
cable eyelet (fig. G, item 3).
