Placement of model pairs with integrated artic-
ulation elements
For model pairs with integrated articulation ele-
ments (e.g. triple tray), the jaw assignment is
already specified. These model pairs can be
applied directly to the universal plate.
▷ Apply modelling wax uniformly on the universal
plate.
▷ Place the model pair centrally on the universal
plate and press it firmly against the modelling
wax.
Placement of model pairs without integrated
articulation elements
For model pairs without integrated articulation
elements, it is recommended to firstly fasten only
the lower jaw to the universal plate.
▷ Apply modelling wax uniformly on the universal
plate.
▷ Place the lower jaw model centrally on the uni-
versal plate and press it firmly against the mod-
elling wax.
▷ Afterwards, bring the upper jaw model in occlu-
sion to the affixed lower jaw model.
Fixation with rubber band
For the fixation of model pairs with a rub-
ber band, a suitable and appropriate
household rubber band can be used.
The contact surface of the universal plate
to the Splitex retainer has an opening that
provides sufficient space for a rubber
band.
▷ Place the model pair onto the universal plate.
▷ Fasten/tension suitable rubber band around
model pair and universal plate.

NOTE:
The rubber band must be tensioned tight
enough, to prevent the models from loosening or
moving during the scan process.
The contact surfaces of the Splitex plate may not
be enclosed by the rubber band, as this would
influence the hold or grip of the universal plate
in the scanner.

NOTE:
Tearing rubber bands during scanning can lead
to damage of the scanner and the models. Espe-
cially old rubber bands can become brittle and
easily tear.
▷ It is recommended to use several strong, new
rubber bands.
