Compulsory inspection of EEC
Tachographs
The vehicle owner is obliged to have the
installed EEC Tachograph KTCO 1318
inspected at regular intervals.
–
At least once every 2 years to
ensure correct operation of the
tachograph, e. g. in conjunction
with the technical inspection of your
vehicle.
–
An inspection to ensure compliance
with the maximum tolerances shall
be carried out at least once every
six years; the EU Member States
may stipulate shorter intervals for
this inspection.
Please ensure that the installation plate
is replaced at each inspection and con-
tains the information required.

Self-diagnosis
The electronics of the KTCO 1318 contin-
uously checks the instrument for
–
power loss
–
failures of the pulse generator
system.
5.1
Power loss (Figure XII)
In case of power loss the instrument
stops operating.
If voltage is applied again and if there is
no handling error, i.e. tachograph chart
inserted, cover correctly closed, the
tachograph will behave as follows when
the vehicle is started:
–
The vehicle speed pointer (2) will
rise to full-scale value (4) and
immediately go back to zero (1).
–
This will be recorded by the vehicle
speed stylus on the tachograph
chart as a stroke (5).
Note
If the battery has been disconnected for
repair, please don't forget to set the cur-
rent time.
