Preparation for Installation of the Cable (continued)
Configuration 6: Large pipe, loop-back, non-serviceable End Seal.
Notes:
1. For pipes with two separate cables, two ILSR kits are required.
2. For Configurations 3 & 4, separate SL3 thermostats (Optional) would be required.
3. For Configurations with a serviceable End Seal, a Temporary Moisture Seal may be required.
The heating cable that is being inserted into the pipe must be long enough to extend beyond the furthest
point of the pipe that would be expected to freeze, if unheated. If necessary, the pipe itself can extend
beyond the end of the cable.
Cable must extend at least 30 cm (12") beyond exit of Compression Fitting Assembly and may extend
further but must be appropriately routed and secured. If additional piping (above ground) extends past
the Compression Fitting Assembly and is susceptible to freezing, the extra cable can be placed along the
exterior of the pipe before connecting it to the power cord. For example, if the cable length inside the pipe
is 50 m (164'), and there is additional 5 m (16') of above ground piping that requires external cable, then a
single cable length of 55 m (180') can be used.
