Contraindications
It is recommended that patients should not be tested within
1 month of a myocardial infarction.
Conditions where suboptimal spirometry are likely:
• chest or abdominal pain
• oral or facial pain exacerbated by a mouthpiece
• stress incontinence
• dementia or confusional state
