The power-line indicator function is automatically active as
soon as the measuring tool is switched on. It is not intended
specifically for the detection of power cables.
Erase Function (MT102/MT202) (see figure A)
The erase function enables the detection of ferro-magnetic ob-
jects that are in direct vicinity to metal fences, iron railings, re-
inforced concrete walls, vehicles, track systems, etc.
MT102: Press the erase button 11. The interfering magnetic
field is suppressed and the value of the numerical signal indica-
tion 7 is set to "0".
MT202: Press the erase button 11. This reduces or increases
the sensitivity of the sensor so that the value of the numerical
signal indication 7 is "60". The resulting margin enables a more
accurate search.
In case of accidentally pressing the erase button 11 over an ob-
ject that you are trying to locate, swing the measuring tool
aside, press the erase button 11 again and continue with your
normal search.

Working Advice

The measuring tool enables you to locate ferro-magnetic ob-
jects outdoors.
Non-magnetisable objects such as plastic or metals such as alu-
minium, copper, gold silver, etc. cannot be detected.
Coarse Detection (see figure B)
Hold the measuring tool at an angle of 45° to the ground surface
and move it left and right while walking over the terrain.
Note: Pay attention that the clearance to the ground surface is
low and remains uniform.
Fine Detection (see figure C)
When a ferro-magnetic object is localised, hold the measuring tool
vertical to the ground surface and determine the centre of the ob-
ject by moving the measuring tool crosswise with short strokes.
The exact position of the ferro-magnetic object results from the
respective maximum signal amplitude.
The audio signal sounds with the highest frequency directly
above the object and the LCD display 6 signals the highest value
both with the numerical indication 7 and with the bar diagram 9.
Note: Please observe that the measuring tool not only responds
to ferro-magnetic objects, but also to ferro-magnetic items on
your body.
Detection Under Water (see figure D)
Ferro-magnetic objects can also be located under water.
 Immerse the measuring tool only until below the plastic
housing. Penetrating water can damage the measuring
tool's electronics.
Detection Next to a Metal Fence (MT100/MT200)
(see figure E)
With the sensitivity of the sensor set to low, hold the measuring
tool horizontal and at a right angle to the fence.
During your search, guide the measuring tool over the ground
with uniform clearance to the fence.

The signal intensifies while approaching the ferro-magnetic
object, and returns to the base value when directly above the
object. Any further position change leads to an increase of the
signal.
Detection Next to a Metal Fence (MT102/MT202)
(see figure F)
Position the measuring tool at the desired clearance to the
fence and press the erase button 11.
Afterwards, scan the terrain in a line parallel to the fence, pay-
ing attention that the measuring tool is also moved parallel to
the fence.
When the distance to the fence is changed, the procedure must
be repeated.
Signal Patterns
The following figures show signal patterns of different ferro-
magnetic objects.
Manhole Covers
Large ferro-magnetic objects generate double signals accord-
ing to the image shown above.
The centre of the manhole cover is determined by moving the
measuring tool left and right.
The centre between both signal peaks indicates the centre of
the manhole cover. The signal drops relatively strong here.
Steel Pipes
Pipe sleeves, bends and ends provide conclusive signals.
