Standing pipes or bars can be localised very well. They act as
very strong magnets and generate conclusive signals.
Please observe that misleading or deceptive signals can be gen-
erated hereby. According to the image shown above, the char-
actersitic of the signal drops to the basic value just ahead of the
bar/pipe/rod.
This is due to the course of the magnetic field. At these points,
the field runs at a right angle to the locator rod, meaning, there
is no interference of the probes.
This phenomenon can be used specifically to locate bars and
rods, as the signal typically drops to the basic value just ahead
of the object and strongly increases just after the object.
Objects Adjacent to Each Other
When receiving several signal peaks () in a search area where
only one signal was expected, raise the measuring tool some-
what until the undesired signal disappears (). These signals
usually are generated from screws or other small ferro-magnet-
ic parts that are in the ground at random.
