PLACE
Rules of Placement
1. Sensor lens should point inside the room where motion will be sensed and
not blocked by any objects.
a. A chair might be moved in front of a sensor if it's mounted too low.
b. Sensor should point towards where a majority of the activity will be located.
2. DO NOT install on sprinkler heads, fire alarms or other safety devices.
3. DO NOT install on ductwork, light fixtures, white boards or any AV equipment.
4. DO NOT activate sensors before in space/room that they will be installed in.
5. If mounting with provided adhesive tape, make sure surfaces are clean
prior to placing sensor. Use supplied alcohol wipe to clean surface.
Allow at least 15 seconds to dry. There should be no visible moisture
after drying completely. Apply firm pressure to mount for a minimum of
15 seconds before inserting sensor into bracket.
6. When acoustic tiles are present, mount to ceiling using adhesive tape AND
an acoustic tile staple.
7. If surface looks extremely rough, porous or dirty or if you are uncertain, use
the installation hardware instead of adhesive tape. Refer to table at right.
8. If sensor needs to be relocated, remove used adhesive tape and any residue
and apply a new piece of adhesive tape before re-mounting.
Recommendations
1. Avoid installing on metal surfaces if possible. Mounting to metal surfaces can
reduce connection range to Gateway and/or data loss.
2. Avoid installing on glass surfaces where possible, for aesthetics.
If in doubt about installation placement, contact Steelcase Customer Experience (CX).
