Installing the software
To install CD Designer, place the CD Designer disc in your PC disc drive and follow the prompts.
Installing the printer driver
You must install the driver for the PrismPlus before you can use the printer with any label editing
software.
This procedure describes how to install the printer driver for Windows 2000, Windows XP, and
Windows Server 2003.
Before you begin

If CD Designer is open, exit it.
•
If you are using Windows Server 2003, the Disallow installation of printers using kernel-
mode drivers setting must be disabled. Follow these steps to disable the setting.
1. Navigate: Start > Run. The Run window opens.
2. Enter MMC.
Note: MMC stands for Microsoft Management Console.
3. Select OK. The Console1 window opens.
4. Add a Snap-In.
a. From the Console1 window, navigate: File > Add/Remove Snap-In. The
Add/Remove Snap-In window opens with Console Root as the default folder.
b. From the Add/Remove Snap-In window, select Add. The Add Standalone Snap-In
window opens.
c. Select the Group Policy Object Editor snap-in.
Tip: Scroll down until you see the desired snap-in.
d. Select Add. The Select Group Policy Object wizard opens and Local Computer
displays as the Group Policy Object default.
e. From the wizard, select Finish. The wizard closes and the Add Standalone Snap-In
window displays.

To close the Add Standalone Snap-In window, select Close. The Add/Remove Snap-
In window displays.
g. From the Add/Remove Snap-In window, select OK. The Add/Remove Snap-In
window closes and the Console1 window displays with Local Computer Policy in the
Name list and in the left pane.
5. Navigate to the printers settings.
a. To expand Local Computer Policy, in the left pane select +.
b. To expand Computer Configuration, in the left pane select +.
c. To expand Administrative template, in the left pane select +.
d. From the left pane, select Printers. The settings of the Printers display in the right
pane.
