• With a good setting, you should see light smoke during a high speed run, and the engine
RPM increases smoothly during acceleration. If the engine is even slightly too lean, it will
overheat and run unevenly. For longer life and to avoid damage, we suggest adjusting the
engine to the rich side of top speed and idling position. For extreme power under racing use,
achieving the highest power adjustment is done at your own risk
• If the engine idle RPM is too high, the slide valve stop screw should be turned
counter-clockwise to reduce the throttle opening.
• Depending on the weather conditions and track conditions, adjust the clutch and monitor the
engine, as it will need to be adjusted slightly every time.
Importance Of The Clutch Adjustment
The clutch is one of the key components of your power unit. An improperly adjusted clutch
will ruin the performance of even the best engine. Premature engagement of the clutch will
make the engine feel too rich (poor acceleration) even if the engine is already adjusted
correctly, or too lean. It will also result in engine over heating.
The clutch must engage when the rpm are in the optimum range on the engine's power curve.
Follow the clutch instructions to adjust it perfectly.
Maintenance
Clean and re-oil the air filter and clean the fuel filter regularly to remove any dirt
or foreign particles.
Brush dirt and debris away from the engine's exterior. Do not use gasoline or any solvent that
will damage the o-rings and silicone tubes.
When storing the engine, always install the exhaust and carburetor covers to prevent dust
and dirt from entering the engine.
Checking The Engine For Wear
After long periods of operation, parts will wear out resulting in a loss of performance.
Parts need to be replaced when the following is detected.
• Engine overheats
• Considerable loss of power
• Unstable idle
• Engine dies at idle position
Usually, on or more of the following parts will need replacement: ball bearings, piston and
cylinder assembly, and connecting rod, crankshaft, and/or crankcase that have worn out.
Check the parts carefully and replace them if necessary.
Enjoy!
