Determine Width of Gate

• W idth of gate will be determined by length of
horizontal rails.
• R ails must bottom out inside uprights.
• C ut rails to achieve equal picket spacing.
Measure out from center of hole cut-out or center
of picket spacing.
For aluminum framed gates, see Section 1. For socket gates, see Section 2.
Section 1: Aluminum Frame Assembly
The Vinyl Gate Kit is designed to build one (1) vinyl gate at the width of the standad walk gate.
Extension kits are available for certain styles. Refer to product catalog for offering and maximum width.
Box Contains:
• V inyl Gate Uprights with
Aluminum "U" Channel Inserts
NOTE: Vinyl rails, pickets and hardware sold separately for fence gates.
Railing gates include vinyl rails, balusters and gate hardware.
• R emove steel channel from fence
rails if previously inserted (fig. 1).
• C ut rails to length – cut rail
1/2" shorter than desired final
gate width.
• I nsert aluminum channel into rails.
- A luminum will also need to be cut
to match vinyl rail length (fig. 2).
- F or fence styles with ribbed rails,
insert channel in center chamber
of rail.
• D rill 1/4" holes in bottom rail for
water drainage.
• F or privacy gates:
- A ttach vinyl end channel to gate
uprights with 4 screws per side.
- I nsert top & bottom rails into
one of the gate uprights (fig. 3).
- S lide pickets into rails. For
shorter width gates, picket will
need to be ripped.
- S lide second gate upright over
rails (fig. 4).
MEASURE OUT FROM CENTER
OF RAIL OR PICKET SPACING
• S ingle gates should be made 1-3/4" smaller than
the gate opening to allow for hardware.
• D ouble drive gates require an allowance of
2-3/4" between hinge posts for hardware and
drop pin kit.
• W hen cutting rails, be certain to drill 1/4" holes in
bottom rails for water drainage.
