3.2. Earthing the generating set

Generating sets produce electric current while they are in operation: risk of electrocution.
The generating set must be earthed every time it is used.
Danger
To earth the generating set: fit a 10 mm
1 meter into the ground.
This also dissipates the static electricity that builds up in electrical machines.

3.3. Checking the oil level

Before starting the generating set, always check the engine oil level.
Use a funnel to top up with the recommended oil (see section 10, Specifications) to the upper limit on the dipstick.
Important
Unscrew the oil filler cap (fig. A & B – no. 1).
Check the oil level.
The level must be above the middle of the dipstick.
Top up the oil if necessary.
Refit the filler cap.
Wipe off excess oil with a clean cloth.

3.4. Checking the fuel level

The fuel fill must be performed with the engine off, and in line with the safety instructions (see § 1.3.6
Filling with fuel).
Danger
Undo the fuel tank cap (fig. A – no. 2) and check the level. If necessary fill with fuel:
Use only clean fuel free from water.
Do not overfill the tank (there should not be any fuel in the filler neck).
After filling, always ensure that the filler cap is properly tightened.
If any fuel has been spilt, make sure that it has dried and that any vapours have cleared before starting up the
Important
generating set.
Close the fuel tap (fig. A – no. 3).
Fill the tank using a funnel, taking care not to spill any fuel.
Screw the fuel filler cap back onto the fuel tank.

4. Using the generator set

Before use:
- make sure you know how to stop the generating set in the event of an emergency,
- make sure you completely understand all the controls and operations.
Warning
To stop the generating set urgently, place the engine switch on "OFF" or "О".

4.1. Starting procedure

Ensure the generating set is correctly earthed (diag. A – no. 4 & see section 3.2 Earthing).
Open the fuel tap (fig. A – no. 3).
Close the choke (diag. A – no. 5) putting the lever to position "
Note: Do not use the choke when the engine is warm or when the ambient temperature is high.
Move the engine switch (diag. A – no. 6) to "ON" or "I".
Slowly pull the starter-recoil reel handle (diag. A – no. 7), until there is some resistance then let it return to its initial position slowly.
Pull the starter-recoil reel handle hard, quickly then let it return to its initial position slowly.
When the engine has started, open the choke progressively bringing the handle to position "
If the engine has not started, repeat the procedure until the engine starts while gradually opening the choke.
4.1.1 Welding instructions
Connect the (+) and (-) plugs into the (+) and (-) sockets (fig.C – no. 1).
Select the required welding current using switches (fig.C – no. 2).
2
copper wire to the generating set's earth connection and to a galvanised steel earthing rod set
