encoded on the 49MHz carrier at a data rate of 1.11 megabits
per second using ON/OFF keying (OOK). The cochlear
implants also uses a frequency modulated (FSK) 10.7MHz
signal to communicate the implant status to the processor.
The maximum radiated power (EIRP) is less than 2uW.
Quality of Service
The proprietary wireless communication protocol used to
connect to Phonak wireless accessories meets a Quality
of Service of an audio error rate of 0.008 which translates
to a maximum of 2 missed audio frames per second and
maintains good audio quality.
The Sonova Binaural Protocol used to communicate between
hearing instruments meets a Quality of Service of a frame
error rate (FER) of 1.6% to maintain good audio quality.
All Bluetooth-related features of the product such
as HFP, A2DP, and BLE services meet Quality of Service
requirements that are determined by the Bluetooth Special
Interest Group (SIG).
Wireless Safety and Performance
Wireless Safety Measures have been put into place for
the Sonova proprietary protocols:
