1. Lower vehicle exhaust - Using an exhaust hanger removal tool, lower muffler by removing (1) rearmost driver side rubber hanger and (1) rearmost
passenger side rubber hanger. NOTE: Be sure that exhaust is supported before removing rubber hangers. A spray lubricant or soapy water on rubber
hangers makes them slide off metal pins more easily.
2. Trim Heat Shield – Remove (4) screws securing heat shield and trim as shown in Figure 3. Return screws and trimmed area to owner. NOTE: Heatshield
doesn't require to be fully taken off to trim.
3. Enlarge forward slot – Open up the access hole using a die grinder on the driver and passenger side to fit the head of the 1/2" carriage bolt.
4. Install hitch – Using the supplied pullwires n install the carriage bolts ①and spacers ② into the vehicle frame through the access hole, see Figure 2, leave
pullwires attached. Raise the hitch into position and align holes in hitch bracket to the carriage bolts installed, guiding the pullwire ends through holes in the
hitch bracket. Remove pullwires, install conical washers l (teeth side toward hitch) and nuts m, see Figure 1.
5. Tighten all ½"-13 Gr 5 fasteners with torque wrench to 75 Ft.Lb. (102 N*M)
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
6. Reinstall exhaust – Raise exhaust back into position.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be
removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices
and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
